The Association for Strong and Healthy Ageing (ASHA) connects, educates, facilitates and is a source for precise, quality, trusted knowledge including referral to existing quality networks and sources of knowledge…it is not just information.
We (people over 55) and their carers are “drowning in information”, but “starved for knowledge”.
ASHA’s approach is in three (3) parts ~ activity and strengthening (including nutritional and prevention), positive psychology and high quality “just in time” knowledge.
The information for Seniors is immense, even those who work in the sector; often find it hard for concise knowledge a‘just in time’ knowledge, delivered clearly from ~ deafness, dementia, diabetes and drugs; it is normally reported as “ so much stuff” without any personalised advice.
Older people and their carers want ‘just in time knowledge’ actually “baby boomers” demand clear, concise knowledge now!
Those over 55 demand this knowledge and a high quality of life, as they age. “Internet patients” often locate the ‘wrong’ information.
In developed economies such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA there is a tremendous need for high quality world class evidenced based program for the experienced(Seniors) in our Community. •
Using “world class” evidence and methods, including positive psychology, we will deliver a ‘strong health’ program based in part on NSW’s “strong medicine” methodology, but engaging actively with the entire over 55s sector.
Our Association (ASHA) is about assisting older people to be physically and mentally STRONG.
One ASHA Objective is to encourage people to stay in their own Homes and now supported by the 2018 Productivity Commission Report on Aged Care.
Our "Strong for Life" team is lead by Olympian and Healthcare Leader Dr Peter Farmer.
